According to Dynatrace’s 2020 global CIO report which surveyed 700 CIOs around the world, 86% of organizations said they are investing in cloud native technologies and platforms, and 63% said the complexity of their cloud environment has surpassed human ability to manage. This is why Dynatrace has partnered with major cloud providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, to help customers including Indian enterprises such as Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank, simplify cloud complexity with automatic and intelligent observability.
Evolution of Dynatrace
It feels like only yesterday D DevOps was all the rage, and everything had to be “Cloud” to be modern. These days, most organizations have embraced the benefits of DevOps and are running one or more of their applications on somebody else’s computer.
But what made organizations adopt these techniques and technologies? It was the promise that they could deliver software faster, more frequently, and with higher degrees of quality, enabling the business to respond better to constantly changing customer demand.

AI-powered end-to-end observability
It seems observability is the “new thing”, but Dynatrace has been doing this at scale ever since they reinvented their platform in 2016. Dynatrace takes a radically different approach to observability. This starts with the broadest view of multi-cloud environments. Of course, this includes metrics, logs, and traces, but it also includes distributed tracing, code-level detail, topology, and user experience. Rather than assembling a loosely coupled suite of tools and focusing exclusively on gathering observability data and displaying it on dashboards, as their competitors do, Dynatrace has built an all-in-one platform, driven by an unparalleled AI engine and continuous automation.
In the CIO report, 72% of CIOs say they can’t keep plugging monitoring tools together in an attempt to maintain observability. Environments with multiple cloud service providers that deploy micro services, containers, and Kubernetes systems require a more dynamic, modern approach to monitoring. The level of complexity in these systems surpasses the ability of traditional monitoring tools to measure, and performance issues are increasingly difficult to pinpoint.

“Enterprises are now becoming software businesses. They need the ability to speed up delivering new software capabilities to their customers, but at a much higher speed. That is one challenge customers are facing in a cloud-based environment,” Rafi Katanasho, APAC CTO & Solution Sales VP, Dynatrace, said in an exclusive interview with ETCIO.com.
Katanasho goes on to explain the challenges with a consumerized world where digital experience and customer experience are the key pillars of business, “These businesses were challenged to make sure that they’re delivering the ultimate digital customer experience throughout the COVID pandemic; digital was the only channel that the majority of us were dealing with. The workforce will not be able to grasp the complexity, velocity, variety and volume of data coming. As these cloud environments are becoming a lot more complex, dynamic, and fluid, business leaders were challenged with providing an efficient and scaling up of their teams.”
Dynatrace helps businesses speed up software delivery and improve the quality and security of those releases. Katanasho added that the multi-cloud observability platform helps customers deliver superior, delightful digital experiences, constantly feeding them with insights, intel and continuous feedback to improve that digital experience. A lot of automation goes into boosting the system to the highest standards, managing the largest digital ecosystem with a small number of dedicated teams, scaling up to huge environments.
COVID-19 has accelerated organizations’ digital journey and traditional transformation from years, into weeks. So, it has become critical to collaborate in an effective way using shared metrics. Dynatrace boosts collaboration in the Work from Home scenario with common metrics, common language enabled in the same AI-assisted data, and enables the team to collaborate at the highest level of scale.
Driving greater business values

Katanasho talked about three main items for businesses to drive business values from Dynatrace and gain a competitive edge. “Depending on the nature of business, we help deliver better profitability, better conversion rates on e-commerce environments, and enhanced productivity. We also touch upon employee satisfaction, helping them to be more creative and innovative. Dynatrace focuses on strategic, financial, and people aspects, helping businesses drive their digital transformation.”
Dynatrace’s aim is to help large Indian enterprises scale their operations, and they have doubled down their team in India to support these initiatives. “We have a team that’s focused on GSR – the global system integrators. Last year, we had the largest growth coming out of India. Hence, we’ve doubled our team in India to support this growth and this demand, both from the services side and our direct sales. We’re expecting to expand by another 50% in the next 12 months,” he added.
